The Coens' version is seriously underrated. As many commenters have pointed out, it's much broader than the sly original, but Hanks is great and there are some real gut-laugh moments. Like "The Big Lebowski", it also reveals more laughs with repeated viewings.

Excellent list. I hope I'm not repeating anyone else here because I just don't have the time to read through all these XTC comments, but I'd add Howard Devoto's 'Jerky Versions of the Dream.' 'Cold Imagination' still gives me a head buzz.
