The music of the Band
Yes, I know they were 80 percent Canadian, but there's definitely a love for America conveyed in their music that is disarming.

WAIT A MINUTE
Hey, this headline is referring to a man's genitals!

I loved how Generation Kill kind of avoided the traps that a lot of war movies typically fall into…you really felt like the entire range of humanity was represented amongst the soldiers, rather than just one extreme characterization one way or another. You had guys like Colbert and Fick who are the absolute best

Maybe Paul McCartney, actually. There were reports a few months ago that Jackson had willed his share of the Beatles catalog to McCartney, but I'm not sure how accurate they were.

Yeah, I love the Lord of the Rings score too. The best moments of the movies are all carried by his score. The biggest "holy shit" moment for me in the whole trilogy was the scene in Moria…Gandalf says "to the bridge of Khazad-Dum", the heroic main theme swells up and it immediately cuts to the Fellowship charging

If we're including TV shows, Yoko Kanno automatically wins. Her Cowboy Bebop score (if you can even call it a score) is more diverse and interesting than…well, just about any score I've ever heard, including TV and film.

I also really love his score to 1492: Conquest of Paradise. The title track is the one people remember, but the much darker, more foreboding "Hispanola" more appropriately fits the movie (which was just OK, I thought).

I've heard great things about their score for The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, too, though I haven't seen that movie yet.

It's a solid score, but he really wears his influences on his sleeve. He borrows pretty heavily from John Adams and to a lesser extent Phillip Glass.

You haven't heard a Jerry Goldsmith score until you've heard The Wind and the Lion. The movie is just kind of OK, but the score is absolutely sick.

I'm an atheist and I'm quite fond of science (even though I'm not a practitioner of it), but god, this grievance lobby that has apparently emerged from the ranks of scientists in a hopefully unintentional attempt to mimic the most annoying aspects of organized, politicized religion is truly an unwelcome development.

Nice little homage to the Sopranos this episode
The meeting between Eric and Bill in this episode felt like nothing so much as one of Tony's many meetings in various public places. The tracksuit sealed the deal.

Why should anyone stop talking about The Wire? It's a great show.

Eh, OK.
As a new viewer, I don't have any particularly strong feelings about this show. It's definitely not something I'd watch instead of Breaking Bad or Mad men, but it's not Heroes-level bad, either.

This dude is really into not knowing anything about the music he listens to.

Best Actual Item ever -

That's a good question. I'm stumped.

Peanut butter M&Ms are OK, but I find them to taste kind of…harsh after a while, I guess. I can only eat a handful or two until I want to stop.

Successful troll is successful.

BMG music club is actually in its last month. It's shutting down on June 23rd.
