The sequels do have that whole "hey aren't we all hilarious hanging out and riffing" thing that can get insufferable in modern comedies. But at least the second one still has good stuff in it, notably the crazy shoulder dislocation thing Gibson does, and then the way that one villain guy says "diplomatic immunity".

That's a weirdly dismissive generalization—I'm a huge animation fan and I love most of their films. Also, the entire first hour of Wall-E has virtually no dialogue at all. You may feel like they use dialogue as a crutch, but the masterful visual storytelling in the majority of their work says otherwise.

The voice work in Nemo is stellar. The leads are Albert Brooks and Ellen Degeneres, not to mention a brilliant-as-usual Willem Dafoe.

No, the third one, who's actually talented and also hot, should just play both roles.

The disconnect is that while the lyrical content may be dark, the music on the VM album (to take one from the many examples above) is wonderfully melodic and bright. Nearly every song on that record is catchy as hell.
