Even better than this was the TV miniseries they made before that, The Revenge of Cobra. It has a great action movie structure, with teams splitting up across locations all over the world. There's a sandstorm, weird killer vines, a hockey battle, lots of good Zartan lines, all kinds of awesome stuff.

The "damaged but optimistic" Mike Schank is one of the greatest characters in any documentary. No one could possibly write a Mike Schank.
Spot-on about Ballhaus. I generally agree with the article that Redford is a little see-and-say with his camera, but his choice of collaborators is what makes this a great film.
