It's really difficult for me, but I'll have to go with paradigms.  The little Chang that he smuggled into the outside of their diorama combined with his overzealous willingness to grease himself up and zip through the vents in order to get accepted by the group are just a perfect use of a character that Dan worked so

I actually really feel badly for them, too.  They're going to be taking over a nearly impossible job and won't have half the freedom that Dan Harmon did solely because he's a contrarian asshole.  Basically, they won't do the things that got Dan Harmon fired but also made the show daring and amazing.

I stole this idea from Capt. Blicero and originally started writing this as a reply, but since that post is on the last page, I decided to put this here.  It feels overlong and really self-indulgent, but whatever.

I personally think that it works so well in this case precisely because it's setting up the sequel.  I don't think that it's the cynical thing that you think that it is, though.  It's about moving pieces into place, really.

Every time someone mentions him by name, I think of "Hibbleton," the janitor's fake band from Scrubs. Specifically, the really light and airy way that Troy says it when they do "Hibbleton on Three."

I said it over there, but I don't buy it.

This is exactly the way that I read it, and it makes for a much better episode than the one that Handlen and everyone else seemed to watch.  I thought it was worthy of at least hitting the top 20 for the series, frankly.

I am really stupid or blessed, but I am somehow insanely gullible when it comes to TV shows.  I think a large part of it is that I hoped that the show was cynical enough to kill him off, so I didn't realize he was alive until the cell phone started going off.

I remember thinking this exact thought, and then forgetting it before I got to the Internet, apparently.  Thank you for picking up my slack.

He's the opposite of the opposite of the opposite of Batman.
