I'm of the same opinion with season 6. I don't know whether it's that she knew she'd be leaving by the end of the year and so rubbed her little hands together maniacally and thought 'Let's make EVERYBODY unlikable', but she just seemed to throw huge spanners in the works on purpose, daring the new showrunners to get

Monster trucks over a good Lorelei/Emily scene? No no no, let's assume she didn't want that.

I'm slightly doubting that you said to each other 'Hey, let's watch something charming, sweet and also simultaneously intelligent, complex and emotionally resonant' cause that would have been a long and very specific sentence, but otherwise, yes, Gilmore Girls is all of these things.

Daniel. Palladino. That is all.

Maybe 'black', like some kind of Al Jolson thing.
It's not a word that would be censored, but it's plenty offensive.

But not in a good or clever way, more in a 'these are things that we do that I'm commenting on in the plainest way I can' way.

That's pretty much exactly it.
He makes EVERYONE unlikable and just a horrible version of themselves.
He also usually throws in every single cast member, which blessedly, we didn't get tonight. I don't think I would've been able to stand a Truly/Michelle conversation written even more bitchily.

Oh, Daniel Palladino, you talentless bastard: 'They talked faster back then. It's funnier when they talk faster.' Bit too on the nose? Little bit?

I still kinda see him as 'that guy who brought every episode of GG he was in to a crashing, flaming halt', but that was more that I didn't care about his character and he was pretty good in this.

It still makes me angry and bitter. And hungry. And bashful. And doc.
