The play was based on/inspired by Leopold/Loeb "thrill" killings (though the characters were not the actual Leopold and Loeb). It's been so long since the last Leopold/Loeb vogue (yes there've been multiple ones), but IIRC: the "degenerate" nature of their relationship played a large role in the defense strategy of

Couldn't you just tell he'd be the nicest boy? I knew he'd never be mean.

I was talking about spoilers, and relating a story about Gone With The Wind being spoiled halfway through for me re:Melanie's perhaps or perhaps not being alive an hour or so hence.

Her dying was revealed to me midway through the movie, when my dad's fiance walked in and very innocently (if dumbly) asked "Oh, has Melanie died yet?" She assumed I'd seen it, and she felt terrible when I shrieked "MELANIE DIES??"

There's a twist? I need to see it again.

I agree with that other J.P. guy, that is kind of an important detail distinction. Thanks for the reminder.

I absolutely can't imagine Jessica Lange as a domestic servant. Can't.

I don't get anything about "Rebecca"-love, anything. I've read the book (which I think I liked most), seen the Hitchcock movie a few times, seen the Masterpiece Theater version too, and I just don't get its - appeal? It's "transgressiveness"? I don't get it. It's ok.

I can see a resemblance, mostly due to facial expression. I do not think that Judith Anderson and Alison Brie really look much alike in general though.

Noel Murray said Dyna-Girl! So I feel free and safe now to state that - uh - use a lot of words to get to - uh - I'm not embarrassed that…

Yup yup yup.

I know I'm just running around agreeing with everyone, but yeah - one of my favorites.  What a great surprise to see it here.

Yes, very good job.  I remember playing the song for a friend and him laughing at the Spanish lyrics, which he translated for me.  Very good memories.

Love this song and album - I listened to "Electric Landlady" over and over and over in the 90s.  "He Never Mentioned Love" is just brilliant -

So it was the last of its kind, then.

That's…actually really sweet.

I was thinking "moist" and "grungy"

I even noted when SNL was about to start, but I don't think I even considered getting up to turn it on (I came down with the flu Saturday night).  If I'd known Channing Tatum was hosting, I might have made the effort and, @avclub-42763705844bf5e2af4abd6c898f8dcb:disqus , your post tells me exactly why.

"Cheers", "Cheers", "Cheers" - I watched it all through the first season, and just couldn't believe that NOBODY ELSE was watching it.  NOBODY!!!  I remember vividly this season-ender and just being blown away by its perfection.  The whole season had been building to this and it not only did it not FUMBLE, it - ah - I

So Rabin is Jaws, and Phipps is Kong.  I-i-i-i-interesting.
