Indie rock fans are at least as bad in this capacity. If you like what you like because it's good, and not because it's presently cool, you'll be less embarrassed about it later.

It actually got a pretty middling review at AV Club. The reviewer seemed threatened by it.

Ok, I get that this is objectively… musical, or whatever. But does this band continue to exhibit the most annoying vocal sounds on Earth?

MECHANICAL ANIMALS is really terrific. That, ANTICHRIST (a high point in Reznor's productions) and HOLY WOOD are far more exciting than people want to recognize. Things fell off when Manson stopped writing albums about the world and started writing albums about himself.

There is no filler on MELLON COLLIE, except maybe "Take Me Down." And that's the kinda necessary filler that gives the album its texture and scope. If you want to cut up double albums, there are ones that would actually benefit from it—USE YOUR ILLUSION, NIN's THE FRAGILE, STADIUM ARCADIUM. Even the single disc ADORE…

Look, it's a good album. But it sounds EXACTLY like you would expect a good Fiona Apple album to sound. All these perfect reviews it's getting are a bit over the top. It's not exactly breaking new ground.

This is correct! Although the diversity of the casting may not have entirely been in Dunham's hands. It's often that a studio/network will insist that its lead(s) be caucasian. Still, just based on watching the show, I don't get the sense that multi-culturalism crosses Dunham's mind too much.

Agree, and I don't even get how appearances are seriously an issue here. Two of them flat-out look good, and the other two aren't exactly Elephant Women. Most people just don't know how to articulate why they dislike something, so they take cheap shots. Which is unfortunate.
