hate to be 'that guy' that feels compelled to post months after the
event despite the irrelevancy of his feelings, but I felt compelled to
post.

only heard bits of the High Life album, and it's great - "DBF" is brilliant.

agree with Sean that Help Me Somebody is one of the best songs on MLITBOG.

Jezebel Spirit is amazing, that misogynist exorcist is scary as christ;
"You have no right to her, her husband is the head of the house"

that was a great shot, through the flames

.. this aggression will not stand, man ..

yeah Wake in Fright's one of the best for sure, probably took an outsider's view to expose the dark side to yobbo culture though (especially back then).

I didn't like any of those very much (although I haven't seen Rabbit-Proof Fence I admit) … depends on what you like of course … The Proposition was *ok* … the Square, didn't like that at all, on par with Animal Kingdom ..

never seen that one @BackFromTheGulag:disqus - good?

the Coen's are masters of the running gag, or jokes that are funny in multiple contexts, or little lines that pop up and get funnier upon repetition; nearly all of their movies have stuff like this …

any time Aang says flameo or hotman it kills me ..

fucking Picnic at Hanging Rock.
Also, definitely Chopper, if you're after something a little more modern. That is a great film.

I don't feel as though any (wait for it) fair dinkum film critic can simply use the word 'overrated' without further qualification - *I* can fucking say it was overrated, but if you're getting paid for your opinion, then that's just lazy.

ha, whoops, my brain slipped a gear ..

yeah I largely agree with that, and you've given excellent examples, the drum sound on Marquee Moon is nice n tight with a bit of roominess .. Billy Ficca has a light touch too (but can thump when he has to).
interesting to note that Andy Irons produced that album, although to hear Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd talk,

I really can't split a lot of the studio efforts from their Stop Making Sense versions :

Road to Nowhere is a great funeral song, already requested it for mine ..

couldn't disagree more, I think the Speaking In Tongues version is a little rinky and the Stop Making Sense version soars exactly because of the Holt and Mabry's vocals - just about the highlight of the film imo ..

the Stop Making Sense of 'This Must Be The Place' is way more soulful than the Speaking In Tongues version, mainly due to the vocals of Lyn Mabry and Ednah Holt ..

exactly what I thought.
