a feature on Tapper Zukie's bizarro classic Man A Warrior would be a great follow-up to this, hint hint

the baby POV shot.

I don't think it matters if the song is a soft target when the put-downs are that trenchantly hilarious…

I always dug the bridge .. actually that's where the solo is, innit .. in that case - I agree!

at least half of those acts had the decency of being one-hit wonders (Men Without Hats, classic nomination @avclub-4a51fda79bbd54b4e7327dd6559b6c4d:disqus ) - SImply Red are *still fucking going* and they've always been horribly horribly bland.

Easily the best HateSong ever. Eeeeasily!

Pelt the Rabbit in his Big White Face - you know what will happen if he catches you!

It's absolutely gotta be Dame Diana Rigg, no one else would have the balls ..

I find this kind of preach-y, PC overkill seeping it's way into AV club writing more and more … everyone is sooo eager to tell you *the right* way to feel and react to moral gray areas - saw a bit of it on the Breaking Bad re-caps, some horrible shite analysis of that song by Lorde (Royals) - seriously, the

"He was a sadist, a coward, an idiot, a liar, a narcissist and a murderer."

"to actively revel in this plot point is to be no better than the horrific boy king himself."

Amazing film, one of my very faves, just beautiful.

yeah, agree - the guitar he uses looks to be on its last legs, it's been around the block a few times .. opening track to '2' best exemplifies what you're talking about I reckon, the opening riff sounds warbled and weird .. in an awesome way ..

meh, I liked 'Rock and Roll Nightclub' and also '2', a lot, but I haven't been able to get into this so far; there's a sameness about the new album (e.g. one of the songs sounds like a virtual re-write of 'Ode to Viceroy') that kinda hints at limitations in his songwriting imo … also, saw Mac live in Melbourne a few

wow close to 750 comments already and I haven't seen *the fucking best intro of all time* mentioned once.

it's just an awkward rhyme, is all … hate the term 'fakeout', it's stupid.

also, if the Monkey King calls someone a 'poofter'

As long as someone pisses on Buddha's oversized hand I will be happy.

'Monkey Magic' was huge in Australia, ran on the ABC for years, and you're spot-on, many a kid was mildly concussed after attempting to emulate the awesome stick fights so prevalent on the show.

I reckon it runs around a minute and a half too long, and I like the song - should've faded it around 2:45 ..
