upvoted dude, insightful stuff.

the odd sound and the camera swoop which heralds and reveals Bickle's new mohawk; it's really disturbing, suddenly all hope is gone, you just know Bickle's last thread of sanity has snapped at this point.

Amazing film; terrifying in a way, far scarier than any nominal horror movie you care to name.

.. I could tell you stories that'd make your hair curl, but it looks like you've already heard 'em.

clearly it was essential; the whole 'robots' or 'blanks' thing tied in beautifully with the whole gentrification angle and also contrasted nicely with Gary King's lifestyle 'choices'.

finally got around to seeing the World's End and was really pleasantly surprised at how much I loved it; I was expecting a let-down after Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz - maybe 'Paul' was the let-down, because World's End was as good as anything Wright/Pegg/Frost have ever done together.
very funny - and all too

arrgh I was fucking *10 minutes* from pulling out that Alan Partridge quote ahead of you @avclub-82d03d1d7e84fc3300a266bc7aaa46b3:disqus !

yeah yeah; Paul *can* no doubt play the drums (and played on a handful of Beatles tracks, and reportedly suggested some of Ringo's more distinctive patterns, e.g. Ticket to Ride) - but *better* than Ringo ?
No fucking way.
No fucking way.

man, props for even attempting it though when you know full well there is a multitude of sniffy AV-club snobs just waiting to point out how it coulda been done better … enjoyed it too, very funny (and man the actual content itself!)

Show her the back alley at Winkies.

agreed; I have some amazing audiobook readings of McCarthy's work, just wonderfully voiced stuff.
Blood Meridian/the Border Trilogy and Suttree in particular are beautifully read.

Blood Meridian actually finishes with an epilogue describing (presumably) a man plotting out a fence-line.

really ?
I love Blood Meridian but I wouldn't call it a breeze, there's some very ambiguous concepts, mostly centered around the Judge.

Horace Andy could sing the telephone book (what's that ?) and make it sound amazing.
great vocalist.

Fly dem braids !

Glen Brown's stuff is pretty cool - liner notes to one album describes his riddims as being 'heavier than an Elephants ass' ..

agree with a lotta this @avclub-0c5cf32a0d6a4060b380af168158a146:disqus - rocksteady has the phat, room-y beats and thick basslines, a lot of it almost crosses over with a soul-type sound; generally really really cool stuff.

y'know I think they have.

yeah I have those, they're great (well most of them).
