Also - Who is Travis Gilmore?

HULK: "AND SO DOES HULK. AND DURING GREAT SAD MOVIES WE CRY TOO. BUT THE CAMERA LANGUAGE IN THIS FILM IS DOING ALL THESE SUBTLE WRONG THINGS TO MAKES US NOT CONNECT WITH THE MOVIE AS WELL AS WE SHOULD. IT'S USING THE LANGUAGE WRONG. AND SO WE DON'T CRY."

well that's what I was going for. Kudos to urgh for nailing the joke downthread.

You prompted me to wiki some of the SDI goings on.

Help me, who was Gabriel?

The grandparents were brilliantly cast.
The set was amazing.
The establishing shot looked really fucking cold.

I don't get the whole comparison with Justified though. If anything Justified is notable for its love of deeply thick halfwits and their hair-brained schemes.

In reality the spy versus spy game wasn't so awesome so I'm gonna enjoy my stories and not worry about plausibility. Just like I do with Homeland.

Help me out here, where's the over-the-top dramatic irony? The audience knowing things characters don't is a major trope of spy stories.

It's a really artful way to drop backstory by having them never having spoken about their Soviet lives and only starting to open up to each other in their American lives.

Especially since Phipps is dead to the AVClub.

It lost me when John McClane just jumps in a Helicopter and flies it. They may say he took lessons (don't remember if they do), but John McClane is not a taking helicopter lessons kind of guy.

As somebody stated upthread, The Catholic Church in Ireland had the opposite of bias against it, its special status was made explicit in the constitution at one point.
And it still sought to cover up abuse by individual priests and entire institutions. A government

It's just as stupid in context so here goes.

It's got the same problem the Hulk movies had - the alter-ego is more fun, and the good guy frustrates the audience by actively striving to block the alter-ego from doing anything interesting.

"Be Careful. Monkeys have been known to eat their young…."
