I have not read the book mentioned above(#8), but the Mongols are awesome, and terrifying. Listen to Dan Carlin's "Wrath of the Mongols" series from his Hardcore History podcast. The 4 episodes cover all the main points over about 11 hours. I was completely engrossed.
