It's a good point - that the school inspection is really just a metaphor for testing of Adam's own standing - but still I thought it was odd that the plot device driving the episode never got paid off. This feels like two three-quarters of an episode pushed down into one episode, if that makes sense. We had

One thing that's struck me about series two so far (I'm watching one a week, so have only seen as far as this one) is how little of Adam in the church we're seeing. I know it was never the focus in the first series either, but I think other than a couple of scenes in episode two (with the junior vicar or whatever)

I must say, I liked Jess about a thousand times more in his later-season occasional appearances. I found him - for the most part - an unlikeable jerk in season two-three, while he was in Stars Hollow (& let's not forget that dreadful episode that attempted to the spin-off with him in California).

Indeed. Lane had much better boyfriends over the course of the series than did Rory.

The other problem with the April storyline is that they seemed to just make her a Mini-Rory. Why not have her as a sportsfan or musician or something? Why is she another bookish hyper-eloquent girl?

After being a bit underwhelmed by this series so far, this episode worked pretty well, I think. It's always nice to see a bit of a different side to Adam, and both the heat & the taking care of a child stories did that. (I couldn't help be amused at the heatwave storyline, being how as this is set in London. It was

Nicola & Fleming talking about the crime stats screw-up features one of my favourite exchanges.

Joining in the confusion. But, for the sake of argument, which are the 'two good songs' and which are the 'filler'? (Bearing in mind that there's only really four songs on WYWH.)

A handful of things in that singles box are not included here - nothing massively essential, but the early Seymour tracks (on Sunday Sunday), the live tracks on The Universal and the Peel Session stuff (on the On Your Own disc).
