Did it last time I talked to him:

I've never been a huge Weezer fan, but when they finally give up the ghost for good, I'll play the shit out of the eventual Definitive Singles Collection.

If only because it was made during that brief window where viewers weren't sure who was the bigger star: the dude from Bosom Buddies or the guy from My Bodyguard.

I'm pretty sure the sci-fi series you're talking about is The Starlost, because not only does that one-liner sum up the concept, but there's also an episode called "The Implant People." Unfortunately, it's one of those shows that never had the budget to live up to its concept (which came courtesy of Harlan Ellison),

Did an interview w/ Michael Gurley of dada on Friday and have been spinning a bunch of their songs since then, including this one, which is one of my favorite album tracks (and has now been set to a very appropriate Doctor Who slideshow): http://www.youtube.com/watc…

If only there'd been a clip of it, I like to think that we would've gone with Phoenix's role in the rejected pilot for a TV version of Kenny Rogers' classic film, Six Pack…with Don Johnson playing Rogers' part! (True story.)

His work on Family Ties is unforgettable, but I ever get to do a proper interview with Tom Hanks, I plan to spend the final moments of the conversation trying to get his every last memory about the experience of making Mazes and Monsters.

Tim Curry is one of my white whales for Random Roles: always on the horizon yet never in my grasp. (The other two are Michael Madsen and Christian Slater.)

Clothesline narrowly averted.

But then how will I do the "Who's got two thumbs and loves doing Random Roles interview? This guy!" gag? It's just not as funny with only one thumb, dammit…

"Somebody said to me, 'But the Beatles were anti-materialistic.' That's a
huge myth. John and I literally used to sit down and say, 'Now, let's
write a swimming pool.'" - Paul McCartney

Oh, geez. Go ahead and prepare yourself for disappointment, because my Random Roles w/ Eric Roberts goes live next week, and there's no In Cold Blood in that one, either.

Thanks for that. Great piece!

Featuring Eden Sher of The Middle as one of the kids!

Voice of Gnorm: Rob Paulsen.

She does not dress like that, alas, but there's still a lot of Sue in Eden Sher: she's cute as a button but very prone to getting giddy at the drop of a hat.

Maybe I was the only one, but the combination of listening to Frankie's V/O, watching Brick's expression as he read the card, and thinking, "If my mother wrote that card to me, I'd start bawling," it never once occurred to me that he was going to throw it away.

S.E. Hinton just Tweeted C. Thomas Howell to tell him that her kid forwarded her the link to this interview. I'm so excited that I can almost forget that she accidentally referred to it as "Random Notes"!

Can't win 'em all. As it was, I doubled the original amount of time I'd had scheduled with him.
