The wildings are under attack. During the time Jon is with them Mance talks about how he's killed countless zombies, but that they can't do anything against the rising cold, or however exactly he puts it.

@avclub-7874884678098f0edf576029131759d8:disqus You're right. The books handle it in a way that's very similar, but controls for that. Slightly simplifying it made them able to edit together that sweet montage, though. I really liked that.

They've been removed as of now. There's nothing there at the moment other than the fact that Brienne is a large, muscley warrior woman. Don't click on any of the links, though, the character description especially.

It's definitely set in Canada, because they mention going "south of the border" for an execution. I always think its Vancouver, because it seems rather rainy.

I think it's more of a fundamentalist thing, to get drowned and revived, whereas most people just get seawater on the head.

How so? Seems to me Roose did his best at the Battle of the Green Fork. He knew he had an inferior force, so he tried for surprise. I don't think failing to beat Tywin Lannister at his own game means Roose was being the Washington Generals.

That's what they added Roz for!

We've all got it coming, as a man once said.

@avclub-454a7bfd685393329597fdb7a92b7969:disqus I don't buy that it's going to work that way. Howland Reed may be important in winning the North back for the Starks, but the idea that he'll step up and say "Hey, this Jon kid, he's actually the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna" and everyone will believe him seems nuts.

@avclub-52e423907968ddd10bbd2ec76092a7fc:disqus Yeah, Stannis is the legitimate heir. Bastards don't enter into it unless they're legitimized.

SPOILERS FOR FUTURE DUNK AND EGG stories

I never credited the idea in the books that Renly wouldn't have banged her right away. He was at least that serious about being king, I always thought.

Trained spearmen who can hold a battle line beat knights as effectively as guns did. (The Scots did it to the English and the Flemish did it to the French) It takes a lot less money/tiem to train someone to hold a spear and shield and stick to his neighbors than it takes to train a mounted lancer. It didn't catch on

No worries, they let Martin write that episode. Supposedly, he wanted to go back to writing novels after his Hollywood years because he was sick of tailoring everything to a TV budget.

You're Theonrriffic.

He was.

Theon's arc is the thing I always think of when people run down Catelyn for her being dumb. She warns Robb up and down not to let Theon loose, but Robb doesn't listen.

She didn't get her father killed. Cersei was obviously planning to move as soon as Ned talked to her. Sansa didn't tell Cersei anything she already didn't know. Cersei plays that up later to bully Sansa.

Besides, Margaery will accomadate her husband not yet having reached puberty just as gracefully as she'll accomodate him really wanting to bang her brother.

Who ever suspected HBO of being run by starry-eyed dreamers. Is the CEO of Tits the only realist in their employ?
