Honor as motivation for the main characters
So I'm glad the AV Club is having this Book Club. I'm interested to see how the AV Club readers deal with the concept of honor as motivation, as this drives the behavior of Aubrey, Maturin, and Dillon, and it's such an 18th century concept pretty alien to modern readers.

Read through the entire series three times. I will never read it again completely because the Ionian Mission was too much like my own wartime command in Iraq (without the redemption at the end) and I don't think I can ever relive that. Earned the Medal of Honor leading the US Volunteer cavalry up San Juan Hill.

Sgt. Barnes, ladies.

"Obey"

Let me just tell you about MRE toilet paper.

Fun with MREs
MREs are designed for bored soldiers to improvise fun and deliciousness. To wit:

Rock Band: Slayer would own all. Done and done.

Eddie Rabbit RIP
My wife worked in the ICU at Vanderbilt and took care of Eddie the week he died.

Even Time magazine had Crack the Skye
Way to go AV Club.

@Heller: No shit. Who seriously listens to Fall Out Boy and calls themselves a grownup?

Yeah!

No I actually think there are two kinds of Slayer fans…people who think South of Heaven is their best and people who think Reign in Blood is their best.

Hairy,

Things I miss about Philly:

Old school cocktails son. Get smashed with class.

@ SafeTinspector: Season 4 was the greatest, and the subsequent two seasons haven't lived up to its serendipity.
