And the Vorta sends them cheesy movies as part of a test run for a new Dominion plot to take over the Alpha Quadrant…

(mild SPOILERS ahead)

@avclub-40904cf5a179d97beb9f7f3f8c02e080:disqus Do Jem'Hadar even have genitals?

The Gamesters of Triskelion one was also first-rate. I'll always bet my quatloos on RJS.

He definitely said it during the Valyrian dialogue, and yeah, I think GRRM has said before that that's how it's pronounced.

On the other hand, you probably chose a profession that doesn't involve going on the academic job market in any way…

Yeah, that calls back to that scene where she was sad about her friend's baby and Littlefinger came out with that charming speech.

I for one am really, really relieved that we didn't have to watch Ros's demise onscreen. *shudder*

Well, yeah, there is the odd case — people especially freaked out about strap-ons, as you note, or women who acted particularly masculine or lived as men. If you weren't doing any of those things, though, it was a lot easier to fly under the radar.

Yeah, that was a lot of tl;dr there, sorry. I have a doctorate in Renaissance literature and my dissertation involved a lot of history-of-sexuality stuff, so I can give impromptu lectures about it at the drop of a hat.

Perceptions of same-sex desire before roughly the 18th century (when you do start seeing a gay subculture in places, e.g. the mollyhouses in London) are a pretty complicated issue, because, as you say, the perception of sexual orientation mostly didn't exist, but I'm not comfortable saying that orientation itself

@avclub-754537075c5105c55477db49c94d584f:disqus That's just how blue hair genetics works!

@avclub-e7c26e48b7ee853cbf5e49de5d800745:disqus Hee! No, they actually show his real license when he gets it taken away. Fortunately, someone put a picture of it online. (Apparently Homer is also having a birthday next weekend.)

Marge has hazel eyes, but Homer's driver's license in "Duffless" says "blue" (I totally remember this for some reason) so I guess that checks out.

-E-N-P-F-E-F-F-E-R-H-A-U-S-E-N!

Maybe Dr. Mora minored in comparative religion!

@AmaltheaElanor:disqus No, that was the wrestling episode. This was the boxing episode.

Oh god, I always bawl when Lal says "Thank you for my life" at the end. At any rate — they're both great episodes! There's no need to choose!

@avclub-0c3e626d1a287cdc48c77515c8dcc243:disqus Now I have a mental picture of Sisko and Eddington doing "The Confrontation."

It can't have been any worse than Voyager's boxing episode.
