My family's explanation for Picard's obvious Englishness despite being putatively French is that they were all in the Federation's Witness Protection Program. That fire that killed Robert and Rene? That was no accident.

Catholics aren't really that into Revelation and end-times stuff though — that's more of an evangelical thing. Once in a while Revelation comes up in the scripture readings for various feast days, but I've never heard a homily that made a big deal out of it.

@avclub-1df8797177fc3b52be6784aacca7358c:disqus A couple of episodes from now he drunkenly sings "Jerusalem" with Bashir! That weirded me out SO MUCH.

@avclub-d019eb089e65903455cc52308f00b997:disqus That's how I read it — I don't know if that's how it was intended, but as it is the only real sense-making interpretation, I'm standing by it.

That is exactly what happens in the season 6 premiere, as I recall — not a Damar-level beatdown, but I am pretty sure she does hit him. She also calls him out on thinking they're going to have "an intimate relationship," and he answers "We already do." It's super squicky

This is true! It's like the time I tried to write Sisko/Dukat slashfic and realized it really only needed to be two sentences long:

I was too old for action figures, but my brother had a ton of them — I don't even remember which ones, but I do think he had the whole TNG bridge crew and the DS9 principals. Riker's uniform was all torn up for no reason — I assume something delightfully filthy.

The whole Cardassian flirting thing makes the later interactions between Dukat and Weyoun way more hilarious, and they're pretty hilarious to begin with.

What's really disturbing is that in Ferengi culture ear-grabbing is shown to also be a valid way to discipline children. It's like if instead of a spanking you got kicked in the balls.
