New York TIMES?
New York TIMES?!
You think you're better than us?
Us?
U.S.?
U.S.A?!
No way!

Do you know the Wilsons personally? It seems like you have insider information I don't.

I feel like they missed the boat not having the Rons get along despite their differences, or actually showing Eagleton Ron being useful/capable in a way Ron could respect. One of the biggest weaknesses of S5-6 is that the writers tended to write Ron as this unassailable superman and paragon of humanity, rather than a

Jimmy Jr. sounds like Jon Benjamin opened the nostril he held shut for Jason a little, but it has more snot in it.

I thought 30 Rock's seventh season was nearly as good as the first and second. Similar situation, too, where the show flounders a bit because the endgame is not clear, then pulls everything together and pulls out the stops for a terrific and appropriate sendoff.

That said, this is a great list and I'm honestly not sure what I'd remove to make room for it. (I like it better than the season 4 episodes, say, but they're more essential to getting a snapshot of the show.)

Those things aren't unusual, but they're the opposite of what I said. It is extremely unusual for an actress to play older, which is what Wu is doing. I'll just repeat myself: "You're more likely to find a 26-year-old playing a high school student than a mid-30s mother of three."

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's only the sort of thing you can get away with as someone whose job it is to be funny at all costs.

Hey, this guy left "Fancy Party" off the list! Let's get 'im!

That's interesting, but I mean, there's still a lot of stuff there that's explicitly about being at a bar. "One last call for alcohol, so finish your whiskey or beer"? "Gather up your jackets, move it to the exits"?

That's true, but it's much easier to overlook in such a brief scene than in an event that takes an entire episode. (Although Christie Brinkley probably would have an easier time getting to the set than Lucy Lawless.)

I tried to watch some S1 not all that long ago to see if time had changed my opinion of it. It has not. I think I watched "The Reporter", which has a plot where Leslie is trying to keep Shauna Malwae-Tweep from hitting on / sleeping with Mark, and it was just cringeworthy and not funny. Completely wrong for the show,

I wouldn't say she's "too young for the part"— she does a great job. It's really more how unusual that is, especially compared to typical Hollywood casting. You're more likely to find a 26-year-old playing a high school student than a mid-30s mother of three.

Yeah, the one about how it's only legal to abort a fetus with a gun.

I, uh, don't have any memory of any unfair shabby treatment by the AV Club toward Parks.

As I was reading it I had the following exchange in my head:
"He listed Mulaney twice!"
"Yeah, because it failed twice."

I enjoyed Mulaney. I watched the whole thing. I must have been the only one by the end.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if she knew she couldn't do it but everyone involved with the production (who also knew she couldn't do it) wanted her in the sketch anyway.

You find her boring? I thought I was the only one! Oh, it's so fun to be able to talk like this!

But you're acting as though it's a definite given that she was unprofessional for that. Maybe she can't do accents well because she's ninety-three years old. Other evidence of her professionalism counts.
