"Heart of Gold" is sublime, but it makes me sad that "Harvest" (song) never gets the same props.  Somehow it's a buried Neil gem despite the fact that it's the title track of what is probably his most popular album.  Or maybe lots of people love the song and I just never hear from them…

Was just listening to 'Rust Never Sleeps,' and yeah, "Thrasher" is great.

"Cortez the Killer" is interesting because it's such a slow burn.  It's a perfect synthesis between the ragged guitar player and the melancholy folk singer.

This album is already upon us?  And getting good reviews?  Sweet.  Old rockers are on a megaroll this last calender year.  Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Mark Knopfler, Neil Young, etc all releasing high quality albums.  Also Springsteen, though I didn't love love 'Wrecking Ball.'  I did, however, love love

As with any great artist, it's hard to pick a favorite.  Of the rockers, would probably say either "Like a Hurricane" or "Cowgirl in the Sand."  Sneaky favorite rocker would be "Revolution Blues" ('On the Beach' might be my favorite Neil Young album, period).  For subdued track of melancholy, "After the Goldrush,"

I think Brody exists in his own head too much to ever be on one side or the other.  He's in Brody Land most of the time.

The human race can only take so much Robert Downey Jr. sarcasm in a calender year.  Or maybe I'm confusing "the human race" with "me."
