I don't agree that it's low-stakes, personally, but I know the show has been criticized/written off elsewhere as a lightweight because it almost never deals with death, violence, crime or politics. You know, it's just a bunch of white people going to work and stuff.

Those guys were freelancers brought in specifically to work on Jaguar. We've seen one of them before ("So that's Megan…"). What's really incredible about this episode is, if you described the major plot elements, it sounds like a joyous breakthrough for everyone. The firm lands its car company! Joan makes partner! Don validates Peggy's value to him personally and to the firm! Lane reveals his feelings for Joan! Megan gets a shot at

I know some people complain about it being too "low stakes," but man, does this show pack a wallop. Any show could have reproduced the dialogue and probably the acting in the final scene between Peggy and Don, but they couldn't have built to it in a way that made it feel like being punched in the gut.

Suddenly I'm finding myself very amenable to the prospect of Pete Campbell going through a window.

I always associate him most closely with Generation Kill – so much so that his more domestic turns in Mad Men and The Killing fall really flat to me. Dude was way more natural as a soldier.

Oh, the spastic coin tones at the end of Karma Police are a nice touch.
