There aren't many theatres capable of showing films in 70MM any more. Most multiplexes were built/renovated after 1995, a time after Hollywood gave up on 70MM and embraced digital sound. And most theatres built within the past four years may not even have a film projector.

I saw The Goonies when it was released when I was 8. So target demo then and now. I didn't love it then and I still can't convince myself it's a great movie. Doesn't help that it came out around the same time as another Amblin film, "Back to the Future", which was a masterpiece of storytelling.
