Davis
I like Davis when he isn't singing/rapping. Steve Zahn is just a fucking terrible vocalist, it is not believable, in the least. I know he's not supposed to be awesome, or his music career would be going better on the show, but he'd bad to the point where no one would even humor him in a band.

HBO probably shouldn't run corny-ass TrueBlood promos right after Game of Thrones. god that shit was painful.

opinions and stuff
I still count "Meddle," "Dark Side Of The Moon," "Wish You Were Here," and "Animals" as some of my favorite records.

Pitchfork reviews 25 albums a week. That is awesome and crazy. I don't always read every one, but I will try to listen to a couple of them every day. They review so much more music than any other site it's not even comparable. (but the site was more useful that one year when you could stream every album with lala.com

Ever been tricked into reading about Franklin and Bash?
I have. fuck.

this thread already exists and I don't care
Seriously, fuck Apple, Fuck all its fawning fanboys. I want lala.com back. That shit got me through the work day every day, fo' free.

Thanks, Mormon. I'm more interested in what gives movies that '70s look.

technically
what is the technical reason for TV or a film's decade to immediately be apparent? Is it film speed that makes films from the 70s immediately identifiable, and so forth? Is it the type of camera they used then? It always looks like films from the seventies are more warm, rich in yellows, orange and red

i know the feds are still busting pot clinics in states where it is legal

i don't care for her Rilo Kiley records but "Acid Tongue" was pretty good.

plop
am I a bad person for thinking Jay Z is a ridiculously over-rated rapper?

hypocrite
If Holder likes The Wire so much, why isn't he pulling back his medical-marijuana-busting goons like he said he was. He can go fuck himself.

a pig in shit
I'm loving all this Randy Newman coverage over here at the good ole Avclub. He's the man.

I like "family tree," and then I agree there are couple first-half duds. "Good bad not evil" and "200 million thousand" are as good if not better than "let it bloom," me thinks.

any chance to see the Black Lips should be taken advantage of. I saw um on the same tour, Cliffy, so much fun. You should at least get "200 million thousand" and "good bad not evil." their first few records are good, too.

agreed, one of my favorites, ever.

Newman's voice is weird, but it doesn't bother me, at all. He doesn't sing off key or miss a bunch of notes. That would be a problem. I don't get what the big deal is.

You'll wear a Japanese kimono babe, and there'll be Italian shoes for me
Newman is one of my favorite songwriters ever. What caustic, sarcastic fucker. All my ignorant friends make fun of me and just quote that goddamn Family Guy episode.

anyone that watches it would know how to say it because the fucking characters say it all the fucking time.

the first season of Treme gets a lot better as it moves along, the second half cemented it for me. Definitely worth sticking with.
