Well said. Even if a person isn't 'sincere' in their suicidal thoughts or actions (and how do you even prove that really) the mere fact they're there at all indicates there are big problems. Problems you can't solve by saying "Fuck you, go kill yourself"… how are people like Gene this stupid?

Just realise he got the episode title wrong too. Who is Martha?

Yet more evidence that the Adventure Time grades are decided basically randomly.

Especially the one with Finn's "Guardian Angel". Probably the best jump scare this show's done.

I feel like they could easily leave it here and it wouldn't cause any problems. Jake's a half-alien, and that's why he can shapeshift. The alien's big plan was to have a baby, hence all the baby stuff in its lair. It achieved that through Joshua and Margaret. The end. What is there to really follow up on?

Maria Bamford is so great on this show. This was an easy A- at least, like basically every flashback episode AT does.

Yeah, Gamora's just as much a part of the movie as Quill. She has her own arc and everything.

Realising it was Whitten's voice I was hearing when I first listened to this album was so fucking chilling. A great album and one of the all-time great anti-drug works of art.

How am I just discovering this part of the AV Club…

Perfectly put.

Shit.

I thought so, thanks! Hilarious episode.

This show is number one on the list of unsatisfying finales. I know I shouldn't be so emotionally wrapped up in the romantic plight of a cartoon teenage Joan of Arc clone, but dammit, I was, and the finale left me cold and saddened. Still, great show. What's the one that has the Australian dragon in it? I think that

I guess he is a villain, isn't he? Man, it's so great how AT's villains are all fully formed characters rather than just monsters. Even Magic Man has that night on Olympus Mons with Margles to explain his supreme dickishness.

Yeah, I just hope you're right. I really liked the episode as an introduction to Peacemaster, but if it doesn't get followed up on it was really pretty bad. It's looking more and more likely they will follow up on it at some point though.

Magic Man is absolutely the king of TV villains. Also, Hunson Abadeer for best character name ever.

This episode was good, assuming it gets a sequel. If not, it was just a weird and if anything depressing story of Peppermint Butler being a cunt.

Threw It On The Ground is pretty great. "WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD JACKASS!"

Next episode seems to be about Joshua and Margaret, F+J's parents. I hope it'll offer some room for the show's main duo to actually do something.

Adventure Time has always been the show I go to for genuine optimism in this bleak TV landscape, and the heart of that optimism has always been Finn and Jake. Their absence is definitely felt when all the other characters are either creepy weirdos or outright villains. This episode was pretty great until the ending. I
