I always wonder what average Joes do.  You cannot be in Starfleet and be an average Joe.  You have to be super-smart.  Barclay is maybe the closest we get to this (socially, at least), but he's a genius.  What if Barclay was of average intelligence?  What the hell would he do?  What do just generally lazy people do? …
