Full disclosure: I love Star Trek IV.  Why the things you mentioned and the multitude of other issues with it do not bother me, just the canine officer, is something I truly cannot explain.

Yeah, I remember looking for a 'wizard did it' explanation, too, but I agree with Zack that this is a much more real approach.  People can be assholes, especially when infected with greed.

Man, what the hell was that obsession all about, really?  I say this as someone who was also obsessed with alien abductions/Roswell/alien autopsies/etc.

This past fall they did The Birds, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Frankenstein/Bride of Frankenstein.  Sadly, I did not make to any of those.

All of the America songs from "The Last Unicorn" are brilliant.  I especially love the opening credits with title song.  The animation for each segment starts out like you'll see in the movie proper, and then it stops and transforms into this…tapestry?…look.  It's hard to explain, but it's gorgeous.  And the vocals…

I know a lot of people hate it, but I love the boat ride.  Wilder's singing is creepy as hell.

I use them in all of it.

Ian Gillan's "Gethsemane/I Only Want to Say" is my favorite.  But it is difficult to pick just one.

Prince of Egypt is pretty awesome.  I love the animation for the burning bush.
