I didn't read far enough when I wrote almost the same comment as you in regards to Dean's intelligence. I totally agree with you. They sacrificed Dean's character for the sake of plot, which is a shame for a show that really tried to be character driven

The thing that drove me nuts about Dean was that he didn't start out as a complete idiot, but the show made him into one for the sake of the plot. In the beginning, he and Rory exchange books and talk about them. But they just made him more and more stupid as the series went on

I've rewatched the entire series 2 times on Netflix now, and I always wonder why I force myself through the last two seasons. But I'm a completist. And I love Lorelai and Emily, and Richard, so I'll watch for them, despite Chris, Logan, and stupid Rory
