Fun fact. Whoopi's mom had her change her surname from "Johnson" because "Goldberg" felt more show-biz.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

@unicyclistperiscopes:disqus You can't put me on hold! I'll put YOU on hold!

I'm starting to DREAM as Cranston!

I think the issue is with how progressive Modern Family purports to be. The show that ostensibly set out to change attitudes is doing no such thing and may actually be enforcing negative stereotypes. South Park is a satire and Two Broke Girls/Big Bang Theory do not pretend to be anything they're not. Modern Family has

Why?

@avclub-b20754d0f1e8ae843e00a8b39a667112:disqus There's always a canal, or an inlet, or a fjord!

Only on AV Club can a show about 5 kooky, oversexed New Yorkers necessitate a think piece that begins "The German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer once wrote…"

That's not a question, Professor…

"Marge Be Not Proud" and "Bart the Mother" are so sneaky. For a dysfunctional family, they sure do work better than most real families.

"Come celebrate my promotion…" (opens card) "TO GOD!"

Another joke the commentary had to explain to me. Apparently someone in the writers' room thought "avoision" was a real word.

(reverse scream, brushes off glass)

I want wintergreen!

I just don't understand why Hollywood isn't making more movies about fathers whose sons return from fancy east coast colleges, and they are horrified to find [their sons] are nerds. I'm laughing already.
