I agree. This was an episode about Ted's loneliness. I just wasn't really paying attention until the end, so my mind automatically went toward someone being dead with all "until the end of my days" talk.
Oh Christ, that makes me sad. And would actually make more sense than the dead mother.
I guess the honor system at Carl Sjunior's Hamburgers isn't working out, eh?
Ted can do an entire rendition of We Didn't Start the Fire based on his non-Mother hookups.
Good thing we use the 13 month Gregorian Calendar now. It would have taken forever to get to a tree of cars if we were still on the 12 month system.
Yea, that's the line that made me think that someone was dead or dying.
Oh I definitely agree. I think there were even a handful of references to the Mother in the present day. Plus having her be dead would be a hell of a downer to end such a long running, optimistic sitcom.
Yup. I thought the exact same.
The show has confirmed a few times that Ted is an unreliable narrator.
During Ted's speech I couldn't shake the feeling that the mother had died and he was wishing for just 45 extra days with her. It would put his whole story in a sort of sad context. I admittedly wasn't paying attention to most of the episode, and I don't think this is true after reading the review. But that ending…
Max Books clearly had a lot of trouble creating individual voices for the characters. Everyone kind of sounded the same, which I think is one of the major problems with the book. It's a lot of fun (I've read it a few times), but it has its problems.
I'd love to read the book of how colossally fucked up this entire production was. And then I'd like to see that book adapted into an HBO miniseries. Full circle.
By the way, Private Cabin (the comedy group the WHM guys are in) made a hilarious (and really popular) video a few months back about a Gotham City henchman in NYC. I figure it kind of applies here since they riffed on something similar in this week's episode.
This is true. It's always an old racist. Always.
"Mom Jim Carrey's playing The Riddler can we go to McDonalds?"
Another WHM'ism I found this week. Referring to someone as "at the height of their powers."
Holy crap I need to read this book. Thanks!
An argument about the role and influence of the Imperial Senate sounds waaaaaaaay more interesting than this movie.
Hipception.
