The History of Byzantium is pretty good! It's exactly as advertised. A straight sequel to the History of Rome done in much the same style and of the same length. Trajan and Hadrian were fun emperors. As for Augustus, I would argue that just about everything he did was beneficial for the empire in the long run, but he was also an annoying little twit. The 5 Good Emperors period is entertaining enough, but it sort of ran together since they were all on the same-ish wavelength.
