(Heh, yeah, my username suits me pretty well a lot of the time. I even toyed with becoming "DJ Anhedonic" on mixcloud, until I woke up and realized why the fuck would anybody want to listen to a DJ that calls himself that.)

I am starting to fear that a literal majority of the country just doesn't want a grown-up in the white house anymore, that any hint of professionalism will be somehow twisted around into a negative. I know that's probably far-fetched, but man does it seem like the country is taking crazy pills.

I think my response on the Kendrick thing would be more like "naaah, there's a lot more going on than that. I'll tell you what, I'll give you a week to write me one stanza of rap. Eight short lines with a rhyme scheme. And, you gotta be ready to perform it in a convincing way. It should be easy, right, since it is

Now describe a character interacting with that thing and unlocking an easter egg or some shit.

Gross.

GROSS!

I'll tell you what. I am a 43-year-old white guy who never really put in the time with hip-hop when it was first becoming huge. I have a degree in music and teach it for a living. I like Stravinsky and Sleater-Kinney and Autechre.

Yeah! Watch it right now and then get back to us!

Yeah, I can't tell from the write-up whether it is just Copperfield et al asking for a meaningless pat on the back or if there is some technical reason why the designation from congress is important.

"Which cop was actually found guilty?"

"When can I go into the supermarket and buy what I need with my good looks?"

Based on this interview it doesn't sound like she *could* make something commercial. She has a hard enough time doing the beautiful movies she does.

Yeah, it didn't land for me either, because the Dean is supposed to be some well-meaning, zany, over-the-top presence that everybody just accepts and deals with. Reducing him to "dumb" felt like a betrayal.

Well, he's an insanely rich guy who made that wealth fashioning tools for others to get rich, so he's probably somewhat personally offended by Bernie's socialism.

I see the 9/11 and Planned Parenthood things as him looking ahead to the general and staking out the center, with only a slight cost in the primaries. He knows his base is basically apolitical and impervious to facts - he literally said so with the shooting comment. He also can see that the real conservative vote is

I'm worried that the Democrats picking Bernie could fuck up this scenario, though, especially if Bloomberg enters the race to split the grown-ups vote.

Eh, I think people understand that a union of all cops is going to be way more evil than normal. They are much more likely to say "fuck those crybaby cops" rather than "fuck that crybaby union."

Meh, but there's no proof that the two things can't co-exist under one giant, impersonal corporation. Keisha is arguing that, for some reason, they will *definitely* bury her music, which makes no sense, really.

There is a guy who created a live version of MMM using wind instruments (playing into microphones.) Heard it live, all I really remember is that it was loud.

Googled him, 'cause that's how I roll. I think he's sincere. Must be in his mid-40s, at least, since most of his other reviews are weirdly intense takes on things he likes, like Michael Jackson, Joan Jett, Queen….
