It's a testament to how nice a guy Whedon is that you couldn't even attribute a more serious offense to him than "verbally abusing women."  Not that verbal abuse isn't a big deal, but there are much more despicable things.

Since you allude to it, I find Whedon's foot fetish interesting because he's so much less overt than Tarantino that it's quite striking when it pops up (eg, Kaylee's minimalist footwear in the Whedon-directed episodes of Firefly; Black Widow's shoeless beatdown scene in the Avengers).
