The Drumroll reference hit me right away (it's quite possibly my favorite moment in the show's entire run).

This was absolutely perfect, and I agree (based on similarly shitty life experiences). I've never found another character from television that more horrifyingly and accurately tells my story than Ted. Nick from New Girl is a distant second (and he had a similar can't-get-over-her arc in the first season).

I really wish they'd cast Sarah Michelle Gellar as The Mother. She's probably looking for work now that Ringer flopped, and HIMYM's already burnt through the rest of the Buffy cast. I think she'd be perfect.

Spinoff is the way to go. I'd probably watch both shows.
