I still think she'd make a lousy president, but I give her credit for putting herself back in the line of fire. She took a shellacking from the left and now she's probably going to get one from the right, so kudos for cajones, at least.

She's dating his co-exec producer, so probably.

I understand what she meant too. She might even be right. Doesn't change the fact that she's going to be fine either way. It's really easy to call for changes in the social contract when your own copy of it contains an escape clause.

I dunno, she's buds with Jay and Beyonce, and apparently Kanye and the Carters are on the outs right now.

No, no, haven't you heard? The media is trying to right itself after having been so unfair to Trump during the campaign. Someone in the Savage Love comments said so. SL readers wouldn't lie.

I know, I once believed in that demographic dream, too. This election was my wake-up call on that front.

I'm clearly not following something here. You said the idea that there would be riots after Trump lost is ironic, since there have been riots after he won. The people doing the rioting are not the same now as they would have been had they lost, so as I said, I don't see the irony. The fact that there are protests now

I'm sorry, I don't see the irony you mention. The people threatening to riot if he lost were his supporters. He didn't lose, so of course they aren't out rioting. There was less mention of rioting if he won, because people on the left didn't think that was likely to happen.

CNN had a chyron saying "Alt-Right questions if Jews are people" on the screen while they talked to his Nazi supporters. This hardly seems like they're going hard at him. Since I don't watch American broadcast news I will take your word for it that some of them have been going hard at him in some way - albeit with a

This is good news. I won't actually let my breath out on this one for a while, though. He backed off on the immigration thing and the base went nuts, so he reneged on his reneging. I can see him ordering the DOJ to "look into it" and when they find nothing being like "That's Washington for you! That's what I'm here to

Jesus Tapdancing Christ.

The first point you make I don't think stands - no one would imagine that he made them himself, and it certainly wouldn't win him any favours among his supporters.

"the vast majority of bad behavior has been at the hands of his opponents"

Yikes. My thoughts are with him. I know someone whose extended family had to go into hiding for that, back in the 90s.

I think what they accomplished was getting a picture out that the news couldn't ignore. That's not a reason to keep holding them (and certainly not a reason for violence or destruction of property) but it at least kept Trump and the media from being able to run with a story that everyone's thrilled about this.

God, the stories about the "dapper" alt-right. As some sage person pointed out, the original Nazis wore uniforms designed by Hugo Boss. The fact that these assholes are well-dressed is in no way notable or exculpatory.

Which tweet did you see that was either whiny or enraged? The only one I saw was pretty triumphant, declaring himself pleased with the outcome. Then, as the media started to point out that in fact he'd settled for some 60% of the desired total, he started bitching about Pence at Hamilton. I don't disagree that he

Yeah, my mom rocks, it's true.

Heh. That's incredibly apt, as I recall.
