Overall, I am mega-stoked about this movie, but those slowed-down scenes looked stupid. I thought for a second that my computer was buffering or something.

What a crock. Eternal copyrights are the fucking worst.

So, is Memorial Day not a holiday at the AV Club?

I thought that was Rhea Perlman.

The idea that lower crime and increased investment ruined 'fun, artsy' cities is the thing i argue with. Your last point is at least realistic.

Interesting take on it; i could see it either way, maybe missing persons, crimes against people of color and various other things were underreported… I would expect it hadn't been a Wild West situation for a long time by that point though.

"I learned it from you! I learned it from watching you."

Don't take it too personally… Darke is the saddest creature of all, the pathetic picked-on loser who now rails against "bullies", which are defined by him as anyone who disagrees with him and Republicans. And when you're fighting a "bully", you can be as big an ass to him as you want! He deserves it!

Didn't much care for this week's episode. Don't really need to see George Washington in an existential crisis having hallucinations of his teeth falling out.

Ditto the Douglas Fairbanks Zorro, which established most of the tropes for the Zorro character.

I remember reading a review calling CZJ in this movie so beautiful that she was "God's practical joke".

One wonders what he would have sounded like when he was 25 years old and first hitting it big in the movies after growing up in the London slums.

I don't think that's "generally accepted", no. I've seen detractors and supporters.

Chaplin and Lloyd were both huge draws. Lloyd was just a lot more prolific during the '20s.

I think the closing speech in The Great Dictator is brilliant.

" it's considered grammatically correct to use the speaker's gender in its place."

It's been a long time since I saw this one but I remember having precisely the opposite reaction. I liked the stage performances, liked Chaplin and Keaton together, but the bulk of this movie was Chaplin just endlessly talking, blah blah blah. It was like he was trying to make up for 20 years of never talking

Spoilers for real life. Ugh.

Yes, it's far too late for Selina to accept the VP job again.
