I like my version better! ;-)

still prefer R.E.M. when they were more obscure and mysterious

It's possible I suppose, but remember that while R.E.M. was still *somewhat* opaque in their songs' meanings at this point, they had been moving (since at least LRP) towards more direct lyrical communication (and of course I always found their songs emotionally direct, if often cryptic on a literal level).

1.) I have never liked the "For Our Consideration" tag. I know it's supposed to be a play on "For Your Consideration", but it's always managed to come across as both clumsy and smug (and not in a comedic way).

I get what billy boy is saying, and I also get your confusion - in Anderson's case it's a, for lack of a better word, nasal "undertone" to her voice (which is not overall 'nasal' as the term is commonly used, like say Gilbert Gottfried).

I just realized I never ripped Beat into my library, and as a result hadn't listened to this in forever. Thanks for the reminder!

They had evolved beyond that.

I laughed all right, but this one seemed like it was straining.

That'd be a shite for sore eyes.

It's brown, we should flush it down.

Mother Theresa: what a bitch.

GbV did it.

They just run on and on.

If you can find one. This place is a dump.

Oh jesus, not another crappy pun thread.

Huh, my granma just sent me cookies. I feel bad for you.

This pun is too terrible by half.

'88 for sure. That cassingle saw a LOT of play.

Not saying this storyline isn't problematic and doesn't deserve most of the guff lobbed its way, but last night it seemed they were trying to correct/minimize the problematic racial aspects a bit (there were definitely some white-dude slaves in that cellar, and IIRC the "master" that got murdered by the slave mob was

No can do. We Yetis have 6,000 words for "snow", but not even one for "bad". Which sucks, because we love doing George Thorogood at karaoke.
