Okay, I'm on board with Disaster > Starship. But the one thing that Disaster got dead wrong was the resolution between Ro and Troi, with Ro saying "no, you were right" and not saying "You were right, but you almost got us all killed, you dumb bitch" like the character actually would have said."

Do you think Starship Down is better or worse than it's closest TNG equivalent, "Disaster"? I think Disaster has some better individual elements (Picard dealing with kids, Worf delivering Keiko's baby) but that the DS9 episode works better overall.

What I mean is that it seems like there is no suggestion that they could change the taboo. The whole time, it's presented as a choice of "Violate the taboo and face the consequences or be good boys and girls and toe the line." It's a false choice: Dax and Kahn can break or keep the taboo, but not change it.

Here's my problem with the resolution of "Rejoined:" I understand there's this huge, long-lasting taboo, but Dax is supposed to be a profoundly influential Symbiote (sp?), and I'm sure there are plenty of Trill that are ready to question it. I think Dax could call the council's bluff: come out as openly rejoined,

"Brick, you remind me of a character from a movie I watched last night. It was about a wealthy industrialist who also had trouble making friends. It was called… oh, I can't think of the title…."

I thought we agreed that the adjective was "Apatavian," a la Shaw/Shavian

When I opened this link, I was really disappointed that this wasn't talking about Rehab's "Sittin' in a Bar." That's my pick.

I did a GRA project cataloging Anglo-Saxon saints, and tried to convince my wife that Brangwalator and Aethelthryth would be good names for kids some day.
I was not successful.

There was a show on Game Show Network called "Friend or Foe" that also had a prisoner's dilemma round. That was pretty much the whole basis, in fact.
