At least half a dozen times now, they've trumpeted his "pivot" to being a reasonable person just because he read from a teleprompter and kept a straight face for half an hour. Then a few days later he says something terrible, and the cycle repeats.

"It's a shame you morons took me seriously when I said some things in the heat of the moment. And by 'moment,' I mean every day for the last year and a half."

Or he was an asshole intentionally keeping icky girls out of his comics-reading treehouse, which would be my guess.

On the plus side, a few months later I got to impress a pretty girl by saying "Why yes, I DO own a copy of Sandman!", which truly was one of the high points of my life*.

My set of 4 Kirby's Fourth World omnibuses (omnibi?), were probably about $70-80 each. I got one per year, partly with money from my inlaws, as a sort of Christmas present to myself.

Nothing stands out in my own experience, but this actually happened to Mrs. Marmoset, shortly before we met:

Vision and Black Widow are the two best at the moment, IMO. Power Man & Iron Fist is fun, Silver Surfer and Ms. Marvel are always consistently good.

I did like Branagh's version of Asgard, but the main thing I loved about it was that It was the closest thing to a live-action Kirby drawing that I ever expect to see.

The commercial I saw included a blurb from Joel Osteen, so that isn't surprising.

Even knowing how devastating all this turns out, I'm forced to laugh at the picture of the bird in the blue top hat.

Her cure is probably from over some weird eldritch counter that has a (slightly) better chance of working.

Exactly. I'd argue that dystopias in general qualify as sci-fi, but Brave New World is even more reliant on genetic engineering and other futuristic tech then most.

I found it at the library and read it last night, and it is really good! Thanks MH, I owe you one. I'd somehow forgotten how great David Macaulay is, even though I read Cathedral about a hundred times as a kid.

I was going to say Green Lantern ring, but web shooters are a close second.

I read a pretty interesting book not too long ago, "Death of a King" by Tavis Smiley. It's a pretty good, fast read on the last year of King's life (His famous "Beyond Vietnam" speech, coincidentally, was one year, almost to the hour, before his murder), and it does a great job of putting his later career into

Godspeed.

I'd never heard of that, but it sounds awesome, thanks!

I was thinking of them finding pictures of this, but yeah, that too.

ACtually, it's mostly in mustard. Only the words of the Burger King are in ketchup.

This is one of those times when I can just picture the archaeologists of the future shaking their heads in disappointment at us.
