I remember hearing somewhere that most of the animals were based on Nazi names for other races. The MetaMaus link above mentions "Jewish vermin", but there's also Polish swine, French frogs, etc.

"I'll take Mr. Ed" was the one and only bit I actually enjoyed.

That's a good point about Vladek. When I read it the first time, years ago, I was puzzled by how much of the book was spent on his present-day relationship with Art and especially on pre-Nazi things like the ex-girlfriend he dumped for Art's mother.

I know that I'm in the minority, but something about Quitely's art tends to rub me the wrong way. I dunno, it's just so… itchy.

I'm not sure, but I'll bet there's a whole section on how "this Boy's soul" sounds like something very different when you say it out loud.

My first thought was Ron Burgundy.

I may be alone on this, and it's a hell of a long shot anyway, but if he calls someone a "bloody bike", or gets called Boomerbutt, I will be willing to forgive so many other things.

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation still holds the record for me, I think. The friend who talked me into seeing it (in the theater, no less) actually apologized for robbing me of 2 hours of my life.

Stupid as this is, I will give him points for the title "Dennis Reynolds: An Erotic Serial Killer?"

Blame it on the spiders.

I don't think he's intentionally dropping hints about being a serial killer, and I KNOW the others aren't smart enough to catch those hints if he was.

Why, are you going into the garment business?

"…my follow up video on how maybe just maybe that Mac character might be a homosexual"

Exactly. How long do you think it will be before her character runs away to start a new life as a Mexican dishwasher?

Unfortunately true, but even so doing a line of coke off her boss's desk and saying "Am I fired yet?" is the single most Grinder thing I've ever seen.

You mean the Ladygrinder? Yeah, I don't have high hopes. Hayley Atwell deserves so much better.

Or, to quote late-period Simpsons, "Hannity and Idiot"

I like season 4, though it took a few watches to grow on me. That said, when Pete the Mailman dropped dead on camera I knew that it was going to be a very long ride.

Yeah, I just finished the first trade, and it is just about the scariest comic I've ever read.

Been meaning to catch up on the other two, but Autumnlands is pretty great. I love Busiek.
