yeah, good point.  It doesn't seem like they would want to jerk Seinfeld around in the same way they would to a guy like Louie's character.

I think the main reason it could be seen as "hit or miss" is that every episode is so different.  Louie never says, "well, the show does THIS really well so we should probably keep on that track".

the Rocky parody trope has been overdone, but it's never been done quite like this, and I really enjoyed it.  It's a testament to the brilliance of a show when you pretty much know what's going to happen but it's still entertaining and moving as hell.
