She was in Return To Oz, brah!

The King is Dead
Is the best R.E.M. record in 18 years

wow, who compared them to VU, a fashion critic?

Tyrannosaurus Hives is awesome, and they're a stellar live band, but the record after that was really shaky.

anyone here the track J.C. did for the Dark Night of the Soul record? It's one of my favorite songs he's done (he also plays a badass guitar solo on it). Makes a good case for Dangermouse producing his next solo record.

Classic Sound
I hate it when bands 'return to their classic sound'. If I wanted to hear their 'classic sound' I'd just listen to your first record. I think it's usually just code for, 'return to what we did that made us rich'. And it almost never works.

you could just kill yourself

I didn't mind that Julian Casablancas solo record, but I saw him live on the tour and it was one of the worst low rent piece of shit shows I've ever seen. In contrast The Strokes on the First Impressions tour was one of the better shows I've seen.

I like Joanna Newsom, a lot too! Carole King writes amazing music and melodies but she loses points because her lyrics are a bit simplistic and literal. I'll have to check out more Joni Mitchell I suppose, and Loretta while I'm at it.

yeah, I mean I think it's cool to say something like "I liked the first Hives record but they sucked after that". In actuality I think the second one was pretty good too (but the last one sucked), and they're still a great band to see live.

Leno always wins

Ok fine, David Bowie

if I can't say Bob Dylan then I'm not playing.

he's also spot on about my carefully crafted hipster persona. Now excuse me while I find an avatar with a Palestinian scarf.

Neko Case
Best living female songwriter.

yeah, it's still cool to like Funeral and hate everything else. This is known as the 'first album rule' also applicable to the Strokes, The Hives, Interpol, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Tapes 'n Tapes, Wolf Parade and Arctic Monkeys.

thanks bro, I know you're being sarcastic but you're literally right.

hmm, I guess it kinda doesn't. I find that more cool than annoying though.

Fire Hose, I'm not sure you know what you're talking about regarding the diatonic scale, please give me an example of one of their songs that doesn't resolve on the tonic.

the A.F. backlash I mean
