Cobain definitely listed the Pixies as an influence. But Vonnegut is actually readable, so I'm not sure it's that great a comparison. Plus Vonnegut's first novel was published only two years after Dick's.

I read a long article on Larsson and his family a while back.
Sounds like he was the black sheep and the family just want to punish Gabielsson for taking him away or whatever.
