This album totally rocks. Band is on fire and damn can this chick sing. Seriously that voice is a force of nature. Not a second wasted, everything works. It's so good that a B+ almost feels like a slap in the face. Solid A.

Was it the fanboys though? I thought it was neo-nazis/white supremacists not liking their proud viking heritage being messed with.
Upper Class? Connery? Craig? That ship has sailed.
"We're going with Idris Elba, but he'll be a bi-sexual power bottom who has a way with the chubbier ladies."
I'd still gladly see that James Bond because of my man crush on Idris Elba.
In his defense, Bruce was playing in NYC and the New York police officers present didn't take kindly to Bruce making them sound as if they did not do their jobs well.
Maybe you know this but there are expressions that really irk me.They may not be wrong per sé but they feel so redundant. Are they wrong or am I being persnickety?
I really like Men at Work, like @avclub-b750f74544cb00c138079607276995e9:disqus says, there's great chemistry between the guys and I like that they are not full on stereotypes,. Looking at them you might think you know who's going to say/do something based on their first appearance (ladies man, urban dude, nerd,…
that was part of the joke, the whole tale was manufactured and everyone but Barney was in (on) it. Marshall didn't actually get training. The whole thing was a psych-out for Barney.
At best he got marshall arts training
No, we can't.
American Skin (41 Shots) was from Live in New York City. Yes, it was also included on a compilation album but still. You've had (as have most of us) ten years to get to love the live version. the studio version has only been out a week. It may not be better but give it time.
Also, Harry's Place is a good…
Just realized that Long Time Coming would be a very wrong title for a track on the 'defiintive" post 9/11 album.
I skipped through it the other day because of what you said. I will give it a new spin to see if it was just a wrong impression (they linger like a motherfucker) and that I might have to amend my verdict on D&D. In my mind it was a good title track and many many many mumble acoustic tuneless dirges (quite like Tom…
this is good news. Years of Refusal was his best album in ages and the new songs he plays on the 25 live dvd are quite good as well.
Bitchfork.. ammirite?
Seriously, they suck All the attitude of NME, none of the insight.
That whole album is great (with the exception of the Detroit medley stuff)
Weird, I always forget that he made Devil's & Dust. It's so boring it's hard work to get even halfway through it. Same for Tom Joad. I always think of WOAD as his worst album because D&D is not on my radar.
Anyway, much as I would like to see what Rick Rubin could do with Bruce, High Hopes is a really good album.
On the DVD that came with the album was a song called A Night With The Jersey Devil, a grimy bluesy thing with distorted vocals. Possibly the best thing on Working On A Dream. (it's here http://www.youtube.com/watc…
This review is wrong. It's a really good album, at least a B+. Harry's Place is really good, a bit un-Springsteen but that;s what makes it even better. High Hopes is so much better than the version that was released in the 90s. Tom Joad works for me. In fact, all the songs that Morello appears on are great and it…
Is it just me or was the whole review written just to make the ironic point at the end?
This is a fun movie, more entertaining than the B- would suggest. Actually worth seeing in a cinema near you if you get the chance.
I have a longstanding crush on Lucy Liu and her occasionally ridiculous fashion choices on this show are forgivable because she's Lucy Liu. The hat was too horrible, even for her.
Costume design 101: Want to make a female character cooky? Put a man hat on her…
I hate that shorthand, especially here because Joan Watson…
Excellent cover version. Love that ms. Monae seemed to be digging it too. Here's hoping this will be on another Chvrches EP.
