His son worshipped him, so I don't see how that was in complete mystery. Plus they were clearly fond of him heavily (Domnhall especially) and they only left because they figured he was dead. That wasn't a testament to whether they love or hate him.

Oh he absolutely did this for an Oscar. Every little "extreme action" he did on the movie that seems entirely unnecessary screams it.

I think you mean 2nd most immersive of 2015 as far as Westerns go, behind Bone Tomahawk. Which rules.

Man of Steel blows, so everyone should forgive him

He's not. This was Leo's worst performance in eons. And Fassbender was better in both of his lead roles this year.

If they awarded effort, I assume Bale would have gotten like 8 Oscars for his ever changing weight by now.

I ALREADY SAID THAT FUZZYFACE GET OFF MY BANDWAGON

I know he was a real person, but there were still multiple elements that made him out to be super great person man that had no bearing on his real life

Get out of your own ass

Movies don't necessarily need to have stories, but if they're going to rely on a character by himself for like 75% of the movie, he better be an interesting fucking character. Tom Hanks in Cast Away was. Leo here was not.

Because there's no emotional core and the one they try to put in is forced as fuck

That's bullshit. Everything (sans the weird moment with his mom and the Hispanic worker) feels pretty organic in Boyhood. None of that is the case in The Revenant.

Again, it's a beautiful beautiful film with some incredible acting by Tom Hardy and a riveting sequence with the bear attack. But that's it. It deserves best supporting actor and nominations for editing, cinematography and art direction. It doesn't deserve best actor, best director or best picture. It just drags…

I don't know what else I'm supposed to say. I just explained what was in Boyhood.

I like Birdman a lot, and I don't like Revenant much but I don't think it's pretentious. It's just empty.

There's a difference in that, though. It's mostly just small scenes of a boy growing up and how even small events shape up a boy's personality along the way. This just…exists.

Dowd is not that hard on movies, this is a weird thing that keeps going on

So this is not the It Follows of the year in terms of greatness? Balls. B+ is still promising, though.

The Suburbs episode alone fucking destroys every single episode from that season of Community. I think people are being too hard on this season here also.

Good one Beema
