Actually now that I think of it, I'd like to pull a Star Trek and take the lead from one series and stick it in the other. Just like putting Captain Picard in command of TOS crew, give me Alec Guiness as Smiley, Firth as Haydon, Hurt as Control, Hardy as Tarr, Cumberbatch as Guillam, and Toby Jones as Alleline. Maybe

Tom Hardy was spot on a Tarr. So much so that when I read the novel I picture Hardy speaking. Another underrated improvement over the TV series is Colin Firth as Bill Haydon. Bright boy Bill is supposed to be a modern Lawrence of Arabia so you need someone with a hefty dose of dash and romance. Who better than Firth

I saw the film version of High Fidelity before I read the book and after reading the book I gained a new appreciation of just how "Chicago" the film is. The book is very much a part of London, even to the point that it seems to smell British. Which meant that switching over to the movie you really get the sense of

I highly recommend the BBC version with Alec Guiness because I think it strikes a good half way point between the film and the novel portrayal of Smiley.

Everything that Hank made Billy do was completely humiliating and I love that.

I've quit watching How I Met Your Mother reruns since they killed off the mother in the finale. Just cannot stand watching it knowing it leads to "death by inconvenient-wife-syndrome."

Pat Boone's Not Dead!

God's Not Dead 2: Oh wait, no yes he is.

The other amazing thing about Elliott Smith's Miss Misery was that it was significantly cut down. It normally runs about 3 minutes and the Oscars had it cut down to 2. Which makes it even more special that the man made it so special despite having to chop up his own song.

I always got the impression that the gangsters in Miller's Crossing don't openly discuss the Dane's relationship because they don't consider it abnormal.

Number 3 for me is all but a given. Given how similar the Monarch's beard looks to Rusty's there's no way that wasn't deliberate. Another possibility is that Monarch's father is Rusty's too or that Jonas and the Morpho were brothers.

I think you're right. It's a journey to the middle in which Borden is set up as being the jerk and gradually things are stripped away until you see that Borden and Angiers are the same.

I think the the misdirection that doesn't get talked about remotely enough is Angier's deception of literally everyone in the film (including Cutter) as to his true identity until the very end.

Its a fair criticism. He is an absolute ass. You're totally justified in that opinion.

Mal and Inara. At least with the Doctor and Kailee we got to see them get together. We never actually saw the Verse's most roguish of captains pair off its most elegant of companions.

Is it really no better than "The Big Short" or "Bridge of Spies?"

Not Another Teen Movie is notable for the end sequence in which Captain American just lets the air out of the concept of teen romance. "Maybe you should get on that plane."

I think there is a problem with this year's Oscars and its that Creed is arguably a much better movie than several of nominees. Usually that means at least a best picture nod and probably a best director too.

Sigh. Still pissed at that……

Interesting take.
