The first 5 seasons were mostly excellent. I thought the drama was usually earned and it was damn funny too. But what gets me about that show is the pacing. I was always amazed in the better episodes about how much story got crammed in. And then on the macro level, I loved the way the season stories slowly unfolded.
Keith, do you have a specific point where you think the show went down? The April thing was silly and soapy but I point to the the end of season 5. Rory does incredibly stupid things and Lorelai proposes to Luke when I thought they should have broken up instead.
Seeing Other People is a terrible movie but I keep rewatching it. Graham is really funny in a vulgar, decidedly non Gilmore Girlish way.
All the Kubrick avatars like Lauren Graham.
Why bother?

Prince Igor: Polovtsian Dances. It's from a classical music collection. The play count is at zero, but the first 20 seconds of the song are nice.
Do you guys know which of Dylan's albums he's produced himself? I know he's done the past 3 albums himself, are there any others? I have to admit that I'm a big fan of the 2 Lanois produced albums, but then again, I'm a fan of almost every album Dylan has made.
I'm pretty sure that TTL was produced by Jack Frost, the pseudonym for Bob himself.
Together Through Life is a bit disappointing but my God, My Wife's Home Town and Shake Shake Mama are fucking awesome tracks.
I love all these albums, obviously. If you feel differently, how about some alternate lists? I'd love to find some other albums that I don't know. I love 3 or 4 tracks on both The Information and Modern Guilt but I love every track on Guero.

Ah, that's true.
No violence? The entire plot of American Pastoral centers on a violent incident.
Makes me feel better about Ulysses whipping my ass every time I go near it.
I feel like I spend my entire life reading Roth and I've still only read around half of his output. Like most writers, I think his shorter work tends to be his best work. I'd highly recommend The Conversion of the Jews, Everyman, The Breast, (and obviously) Portnoy's Complaint and Goodbye Columbus.
I also thought American Pastoral was overrated. I haven't gotten to The Plot Against America yet but if you're looking for some latter day Roth to get into I'd recommend Everyman- that shit was spare and scary.
Coincidentally enough
I'm reading Sabbath's Theater right now. I'm finding it to be very well written (there's a shock from Roth) but thematically tedious. I feel like I've read this Roth before- and that's probably because I have.
That goes down as something I never thought I'd see here. That was cool and he sold me on Blood Meridian too.
And no, he didn't rip anyone off, he added the word "and". He's an original one, that William.
