The Later Chronicles of Rabbit…
…meaning Rabbit Is Rich and Rabbit at Rest have served as a great intro to Updike's work for me. I was also one of those meaning to read Updike, so I just picked them up at the library. Wonderfully bitter, misanthropic stuff.

I don't know about baby cannibals, but the punishment for pacifier theft is pretty steep. My ex-girlfriend's cousin went up for it when he was three months. After fifteen years, he'll finally be up for parole in a few weeks.

Do The Right Madea.

Fritzy-poo and Switters, it's interesting that you think that. I believe I appreciate Catcher a lot more now than I would have back in high school.

I never had Catcher assigned to me to read. In fact, I read it some months ago on a nice, lazy Saturday when I picked it up out of my own box of paperbacks. I wouldn't say that it was a day wasted. Holden's voice worked for me, especially when visiting his teacher. I found that section hilarious.

Lunakitsch, if not for you, I wouldn't have known Hoop Realities existed. Any rhyme and reason for this doc not getting a lot of exposure like the original?

And yes, you Unrepentant Son of a Gun, that is certainly a plausible way for the show to end. It would kinda suck in the sense that they wouldn't remember, but it would also be sort of poetic as well.

Charles Haley (had to stop myself from calling you Charlie Murphy), I think that Kate line has more to do with the lack of Oceanic 5 (6, whatever) unity. But of course, I could be wrong.

Obviously, that line was the whole review, right? I mean, what more needed to be said?

Wow, AncientChineseSecret. I thought I was the only one who remembered that a sitcom based on the aftermath of a nuclear disaster once existed. God, I wish someone would do something with that premise. It would actually work today.

Yes indeed. I was usually ready to change the channel out of fear during the opening. I would have to make myself man up just to watch it, and if successful, nothing else could usually phase me. That voiceover, the color/negative switcheroo, that horrible (in a good way) music…just killer.

At least The Hitchhiker has an endlessly hummable theme song.

Venkman, that ending sounds wonderful. Just from your description I was happily horrified.

I concur, my good man. But she looks even better on this picture. She's more attractive than "skinny Oprah," but I can see a slight resemblance. And thanks to the rest of you for handling the lightweight Philly for me.
