The Rock is a pussy who's been playing it safe in Disney and 'Fast and Furious' movies for the last 5-7 years. Hell, 'Pain and Gain' is the most subversive movie he ever did. If he has a 'Commando' in him, I don't see it.

It's still going to make more than a billion dollars, no matter what. And that really is the bottom line for these sort of movies.
I'm not bashing Nolan. I think he's amazing. Both his fans and haters are infatuated with him to the point of crippling obsession that they keep bringing on his films even in other discussions.
I guess you are right. It's a film about Chris Nolan's approach to making movies : Breaking down everything into some sort of logic and then applying it to extreme and outlandish situations whilst looking for symbols and themes.
Not to mention his ability to draw INCREDIBLE performances from his actors. Which is a gift only the best of the best directors have . Crystal Skull aside, I've never seen a bad or indifferent performance in any Spielberg movie
Yeah, agreed on that Kasdan thing. I get a lot of hate for this in my quarters but I don't even think 'Body Heat' was that great of a film.
Ironically, I find Inception to be my least favorite film of his. First time at the theatre was an incredible experience but a second viewing at home does feel a bit unsatisfying because there really aren't any strong characters. It's more of a triumph of ideas, technique and imagination than an emotional or humane…
Chris Nolan is in a serious predicament: The 'serious' film snobs rip on him for being a guy who makes 'comic book films' and the comic book fans rip on him for being 'not close to the comic' and making it 'all gritty and serious'. He seems like an intelligent,soft-spoken and talented guy who does (and IMO…
It's not Lucas ineptitude that is his worst trait. Rather, it's his inexplicable obliviousness to the reality that surrounds him . He's been tinkering with the original trilogy for so long ,despite constant complaints from fandom and yet he keeps on doing so. When criticized, he pulls up the 'It's my thing and you…
No apologies necessary. That was one of the most idiotic scenes I have ever seen and thus far the only one to make me swear at a movie theatre, The phrase 'rape of the childhood' may be overblown and exaggerated but in the case of Mr. George Lucas, I feel it's JUSTIFIED.
Don't think so. 'Only god forgives' has proven that if anything, maybe I should stay away from 'Indie movies' for a while.
I will always wonder what Christopher Nolan ever did to piss people off that so many love to get on his case. From critics to fans to journalists to comedians, EVERYONE has something to bitch about when it comes to his movies.
They hate spielberg for feel good blockbusters and hate nolan for grim, nihilistic, introspective blockbusters. Is there even a middle ground? Are people ever happy
Nope. He made THREE bad movies, back to back to back without ever learning from his mistakes each times. Also: jar jar binks and shia laboeuf monkey swing was his idea. He DESERVES all the criticism
Calm down kindergarden teacher, now is not the time for fear
Can't wait to hear vin diesels' audiobook of nabokov's 'lolita' in which he mumbles through the whole thing and nobody understands anyhing.
And still beats ben affleck as batman in a zack snyder movie.
I eagerly await the day when you nerds get over your obsession with superheroes and hollywood can start making some real movies instead. I mean I used to love comics but there are like 9 superhero movies released every month. Its getting ridiculous
You know if you loved 'U turn' , I have a feeling you'll enjoy the recent and unfairly maligned 'The counselor'. Somewhat of a similar type of film.
Yeah, I still chuckle at the opening scene of him doing one-armed push ups! Don't worry though, Cage is getting back in the game. 'Joe' is looking great.
