God, this movie is dumb as a box of rocks.  I really wanted to like it too; I loved the book, and was going in hoping for great things.  I know my opinion is colored because I read the book first, but I really think the key issue with the film is how the filmmakers shred a beautiful, intricate story to a pulp.  To wit:

This is way too frenetic. Between all the sound effects, constant cutting between the table and close-ups and source clips and still pics and Google searches (?) it's kind of hard to watch. I think you're trying too hard to make it feel different from the audio talks…I'd way rather just watch the talking…
